plantas colgantes naturales exterior

Russelia equisetiformis, known as coral rain or hummingbird plant, is a perennial of hanging or semi-shrubby bearing, highly appreciated for its abundant and prolonged flowering. Its thin, arched stems are reminiscent of those of the equestrian (horsetail), and are adorned with small leaves and numerous tubular flowers of intense red, although there are also varieties in pink, white or yellow. These flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for gardens that promote biodiversity. As for cultivation, Russelia equisetiformis copes well in hot sunny climates, where it can bloom for much of the year. It prefers well-drained and light soils, although it tolerates some drought once established. It can be grown in the ground or in hanging pots, where its stems can fall freely. It requires moderate waterings, without waterlogging, and benefits from light pruning to maintain its shape and stimulate new flowers. It is low maintenance and very durable, ideal for low water consumption gardens or as a decorative element on terraces and balconies.
